Introduction

With the release of BIOS 2202 for the Apex Encore, I revisited my system tuning with daily use in mind. I settled on adaptive SVID undervolting through IA AC Load-Line: I kept dynamic clock and voltage control while reducing the load-dependent addition to the voltage request.

The principle of the first version remains unchanged. Here I explain the combination of a selected LLC level, a matching DC Load-Line and an individually tuned AC Load-Line. The working example uses a Core i9-14900KS, an ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Apex Encore and LLC5. Global SVID offset and fixed Vcore are not mixed into this method.

This manual explains what each setting does and how to validate the result. My profile values are not a universal preset. Even two identical processors on identical motherboards may need different settings; the BIOS version and cooling conditions matter as well.

In this revision, I distinguish confirmed profile settings, readings from the reference screenshots and the limits of simplified models. Similar VID and VOUT readings do not prove that the entire configuration is correct, and a calculated resistance does not become a measured VRM characteristic simply because it is entered in the BIOS.

Daily use requires more than heavy multithreaded testing. High clocks with few active cores, load changes, idle and repeated boots all need testing. The system must maintain performance and computational correctness under the conditions in which it will be used.

LGA1851 and Z890 are discussed here as the boundary of applicability. The workflow carries over, but the electrical behavior of Arrow Lake with DLVR requires separate tuning. An LGA1700 profile and its interpretation of external VOUT cannot be applied directly: first identify the regulated rail and the DLVR mode.

The main part covers SVID control through IA AC Load-Line. Chapter 9 discusses three alternatives: SVID offset for adaptive undervolting, FIXED with a manual VRM target, and Auto SVID with limited Turbo ratios. Save a separate profile for each method and validate it in the required workloads.

The original tests and BIOS recording are retained as material from my working example. A technical review of the text is not a new test run on the computer and does not extend the stability conditions that those tests establish.
