Method and Starting Point
1.1 Method and Tuning Conditions
PDF · 6Page 6The method is adaptive SVID undervolting through IA AC Load-Line. Clocks remain dynamic, no global offset is set, and the external VRM is not assigned a fixed Vcore. With LLC selected, the load-dependent correction to the voltage request is reduced; DC accounts for the load-line characteristic rather than lowering voltage.
In the testing descriptions, per-core means a load on individual cores; load/idle means transitions between load and idle.
| Retained | Tuned | Does not replace the method |
|---|---|---|
| Adaptive voltage, Turbo and power saving | LLC, applied AC/DC values, finite PL and ICCMAX limits | Global Core SVID Offset and fixed Vcore are separate methods |
| CEP and thermal protection | AC, based on stability and performance results | Disabling protection to pass a test is not optimization |
| Testing real usage scenarios | Margin from the identified stability boundary | One screenshot or benchmark does not validate every CPU operating mode |
Before You Begin
- Save the original BIOS profile and know how to recover from an unsuccessful configuration. Do not start with an unvalidated memory overclock.
- For a new setup, use the latest stable BIOS for the motherboard. For affected Raptor Lake processors, Intel recommends microcode 0x12F or later; verify the actual version after boot.
- First test the system with the Intel settings recommended for that CPU. ASUS Advanced OC Profile in my example is not the same as Intel Default Settings.
- Set power, current and temperature limits appropriate for the cooling. Choose repeatable workloads and record both errors and test results.
